Hi,
I’ve been using Belegenza for several your months and have absolutely loved every product of yours I’ve tried. I wanted to contact you and ask what products to use for my hair.

My hair is extremely curly, but has thinned out a lot over the last year. (I’m 31 now, and have Hashimoto’s Disease, an autoimmune disease of the thyroid.) I definitely am not losing quite as much hair as when I used other hair product brands. But my hair is still thin and it’s disheartening — when your own mom gently comments that your hair looks thin, you know it’s not just in your had. And honestly, 31 feels too young for thin hair.
My issues are:
– extremely curly
– dry scalp and ends (I live in the mountains, elevation 7,500 feet, so very little moisture in the air)
– thinning hair
Your suggestions for my next product purchase are most appreciated. I’ve spent a lot on hair care over the years and never had such shiny, happy hair before!
Thank you,
K.Y.

Dear K. Y.,
Thank you for reaching out, and for your positive comments about our products on your hair. We are so happy that you are already seeing results, and now, let’s fine tune your program for maximum results. PLUS, we have a surprise in the next few weeks that may be of interest… more about that in a minute.
All you’ll do is after shampooing with your IlLustrious Shampoo & Cleanser (it’s more conditioning to the hair, so let’s keep you using it, and maybe later on, you may want to use the
GrowOUT Shampoo & Strengthener a couple times a week/ or so), is to spray a few pumps of the
GrowOUT Scalp Energizing Spray right at the scalp and massage it in with your fingertips… You can do this between shampooings, every day, and it even seems to work like a dry shampoo in keeping the hair and scalp cleaner, longer. That’s really simple, right?
Now, we should establish the scalp situation. Once you start using the
GrowOUT Scalp Energizing Spray, you will probably see a noticeable difference in the moisture, lack of flakiness and dryness of the scalp. BUT, let’s say you shampoo every 3 days and on the third day your flakes are noticeable again. On the night before you plan to shampoo ( assuming you shampoo in the morning ) put a few drops of
SpotLite Shine Serum in your palm and dip your fingertips in and then massage that all through the scalp. Put a good amount, and then if you wish, put a silk night cap and dream of perfect hair. 🙂 In the morning, shampoo and then go back to using the
GrowOUT Scalp Energizing Spray. The
SpotLite Shine Serum will not only help the scalp, but will also help with the overall flexibility of the hair strand for the life of each strand!
By the way, we have a new book coming out about growing hair faster (
How To Grow Hair Faster: The GrowOUT Diet ) , based on Cheryl’s and my diet to feed our follicles! We try to avoid SOY at all costs, even the hidden versions of oils in salad dressings, (even though they say it’s organic).
Also, before I ask what else we can answer for you, are you doing any chemical services, like colors, brazilian or keratin treatments, flatironing??
It’s always great to know all the variables!
Okay, what questions do you have after all that?? LOL.
Alan & Cheryl
Dear Alan,
Oh you’re just wonderful!!! I’ve never had such a quick, kind, and helpful reply like this, so thank you!
GrowOUT spray sounds perfect and simple. I’ll add that to my routine for sure! I didn’t think to use the SpotLite the night before shampooing, so I’ll do that. I use it on my wet hair after I shower, and it has worked miracles for my dry ends.
I had my hair colored back in April; I may or may not color it again in January or February; haven’t decided. The only heat is I use a curling iron on my bangs to soften the curl, and I usually use some PerForm to help protect. Otherwise, no blowouts or other chemical processing. (I hope that’s a good thing. With my hair being fine and thin, blowouts take a lot of work — first the blowout, then curling for some volume body and waves. I usually make them last 3-5 days. But again, rare that I flatiron or blowout.)
More questions LOL! Should I continue using the
Dramatic volumizing conditioner? Or maybe switch to
Romance? Romance is just gorgeous, but I’ve noticed my hair gets weighed down a day or two after using it, not matter how much I’ve rinsed my hair. But maybe I’m not using it correctly?
Could you offer a product package with the Style
Taffy instead of the
PerForm? The gel is good but I love, love, love (ADORE!) the taffy to pieces. Nothing like it in the world!
Thanks again. You and
Cheryl are just peaches!
K.Y.
Dear K.Y.,
I love how you’ve used the
SpotLite Shine Serum on your wet hair! That’s how we use it too, on our delicate bleached hair! It’s amazing.
Also, by using the
GrowOUT Scalp Energizing Spray on a daily basis, you can use the moisture of that to freshen your bangs by blowing it dry after applying, and your hair should look fresh every time!
We have a few tricks for when you do your color to protect your hair, super charge the condition during the color and to lock the color in and show off the spectrum of color meant by your colorist and the color manufacturer. Use
SpotLite Shine Serum on your hair before you even go to the salon much like how you do after shampooing. Just add a bit more that day, or add a few pumps to your color formula! Then after the color, have them use
RoMANce Deep Conditioning Treatment before shampooing the color out! Then, shampoo. Then condition again. Rinse super well. Then use
VirgINity Hair Repair, and you will dazzle not only yourself, but the colorist, too!

Dear Alan & Cheryl,
I’ll use Romance less often and stick with Dramatic for daily use. And by daily use, I mean 2-3 times a week! Here’s another thing about Belegenza: my hair stays cleaner for a longer period of time. I can go 3-4 days before I even need to think about washing my hair. Not only that, all of the other products I tried seemed to cause occasional sebaceous cysts on my scalp, which meant making trips to my doctor for removals. (And it’s not a cheap procedure.)I haven’t had a single issue like this since switching to your products.
Thank you!! I absolutely love all the advice with GrowOut, and the coloring treatment tricks! I’ll be sure to bring along Romance with me to my stylist’s chair.
xo,
Oh, and I should add… about once a week I tease my hair some. I like a modernized French twist or a Brigitte Bardot look. I’m sure it’s probably dreadful on my hair. But I like the bedroom hair look, I just do.
Go for it! As your hair gets stronger, that shouldn’t affect it too much. Do you use a brush or comb? If a brush, sometimes the bristles are damaging. If you wish to snap a photo, I will look at the way they are seated into the handle to assess if it may be catching the hair and snapping it.
Alan & Cheryl
Nearly always a comb. But occasionally an oversized blowout brush. (Because sometimes the comb gets misplaced, and life without teasing is impossible, so I grab what’s handy.) I’ll snap a photo once I get home and send it to you.
K.Y.
Also… I didn’t think of Simply Smooth!!! I did see it listed as a new product on your site. Perhaps I’ll go with that, especially since I adore Taffy so much.
MWAH!
Dear K.Y.,
What a great report! We cannot directly comment on medical things, and we are so happy you’ve mentioned it! I, too, would get horrible itchiness, and dermatitis to the point that I could hardly work! That was part of the reason Cheryl and I decided to begin our hair care line. We figured foods pretty much work in the human body, and when you feed it the right foods, it stays healthy and gets healthier as you increase the quality of those foods! So, there is where we started. Let’s “feed” the hair and scalp with food-grade wholesomeness and eliminate synthetics and chemicals. It sounds like your scalp is responding to our food-grade concept! By the way, my itchiness and dermatitis is GONE, and only flares when I have to work with synthetic products in the salon, which is very rare these days!
Also, your interest in
Simply Smooth Humidity Blocker is spot on! I forgot to mention that it was a development that happened as a result of Taffy! One of our top “TEST SALON” stylists in New York City used the
Taffy the “wrong way,” as a blowdry cream. We had developed it for guys as a molding paste! Once we saw the “wrong way” and how great it worked, we added the Vitamin C Complex to soften the curls! Voila! The
Simply Smooth Humidity Blocker was born.
Thank you!
Alan & Cheryl
