• Hairs have a surface that is similar to shingles on a roof, called the cuticle layer. Straight hairs have a smooth arrangement of “shingles” and curled hairs have shingles that are rough feeling. Because the hair is “twisted” into curls, the shingles don’t lay smooth. That’s how the humidity enters… between the unsmooth shingles. This is how dastardly humidity makes its way in and its explosive frizzy effects!

• Hair only retains so much interior moisture(water) at any given time. To control hair, you must have the perfect amount of moisture without reactivating the cysteine (responsible for curl strength and shape).

Let’s think this out…

Hair can only have a certain amount of water on the inside, trapped by the cuticle, preferable.  Like a saturated sponge which cannot absorb any more water. When hair is perfectly moisturized, there is no room left for humidity to get in! This is where the perfectly smooth cuticle creates the moisture exchange barrier. BUT, since the introduction of liquid plastic (acrylates) and silicone derivatives, curly hair has done a cosmetic contribution, but has toxified the hair and scalp causing a multitude of problems! Clogged follilces, thinning hair, dry scalp, crunchy hair, brittle hair, broken and split ends and an overall dry feeing to the hair.

So the real trick is to fill the hair properly, and seal it with compatible ingredients, until the next time you shampoo it.

Because curly hair has this somewhat open surface, the shingles are not perfectly aligned and sealed.

*****This allows for the core of the hair to allow too much moisture to DRY OUT during the styling phase, and then REABSORB the water(humidity) either from the atmosphere or your “personal sauna” (sweat), thus reactivating your curls’ natural patterns.*****

Silicone and derivatives are sly. They allow more heat to boil the moisture from the core of the hair. That’s the steam you see when styling! It sounds good in theory, but with that kind of vacuum humidity can get sucked right back in. If that particular sealant (silicone derivative) is too advanced (Get your copy of Silicone Derivative AVOID list by clicking here now), it will progressively dry the hair to the point of fried ends. You’ve seen it on your friends, or even your own hair.

Therefore, if you have placed desired curls or straightness, and there are varying degrees of curliness, you may end up with a mess. It is crucial to balance the moisture level with a conditioner that is designed for perfect inner balance, like RoMANce Deep Conditioning Treatment. Seal with EnCore Leave-In Conditioner and lock your style in with PerForm Control Styling Gel or Taffy Styling Cream. This combination is perfect balance with no crunch and leaves the hair and scalp to breathe naturally, unlike silicones and acrylates!

But before you reach for products you must not towel the hair too much.

You know that head wrap thing that you do that seems all glamorous after you shampoo and leave wrapped while you do your makeup, eat breakfast, get dressed, feed the cat?

That’s the very first problem in your regimen.

You must leave enough water ON the hair when you put the styling products IN your hair. After rinsing RoMANce out of the hair, simply squeeze the excess water out of your hair with your hands and if necessary, only BLOT your hair with a towel making sure not to ruffle the cuticle or curls!

Grab your EnCore, VirgINity Hair Repair, PerForm, and/or Taffy  and work them into the hair with a scrunching action. Work it into the hair from the ends back to the scalp area without running your fingers through the hair.

Yes, your hair will be dripping a bit, but remember, all Belegenza Extraordinary Hair Care products are safe for the hair and skin. Make sure you are careful not to slip on the wet floor though… (put a towel down or do this over a rug that you can launder later)!

Once you’ve arranged your hair, let it dry from this very “wet and drippy” state. If you usually use a diffuser, wait as long as you can so that the very drippiest water has either dripped out, or has evaporated. Yes, this takes a little longer, but I promise that later in the day, you will be thankful!

You see, the problem with the towel drying is that it makes the surface water on each hair uneven. Some hairs actually are touching the towel and others are not.

So as soon as you remove the towel, your approximately 90,000 hairs all have a different moisture level on the OUTSIDE of the hair.

Then when you put products in, they are being slightly diluted in different proportions. Some hairs dry perfectly, some are frizzy and the others are just independently confused!

By the end of the day, you have 90,000 different interpretations of what you intended….resulting in BAD HAIR DAY AND CRAZY CURLS!

The point? Make the hair consistently wet, fill it properly, seal it consistently.
As you can tell, we take care of the details for you!  The best news is that with all Belegenza products, the perfect blends of ingredients fill the INNER moisture EVERY TIME! We’ll take care of the inner moisture, and you take care of the surface moisture with the help of our styling products!

By the way… most peoples’ answer to curl control is using gels that are crunchy…..

Crunchy is because it’s liquid plastic, called acrylates, and a few other fancy chemical names.

If you’re over the crunch, and want to keep your follicles from smothering to death with liquid plastic,
