Perimenopause Hair Loss: The Worst Things to Put in Your Hair. Can Hormonal Hair Loss Be Reversed?

Intro

Perimenopause, also called menopausal transition, means “around menopause”. Eventually,  every woman will go through it; it’s a biological process.

The level of estrogen rises and drops irregularly during perimenopause.

Women start perimenopause at different ages.

Some start seeing signs, like irregular periods, as early as their mid-30s.

Estrogen and progesterone are responsible for keeping the hair in the growing phase, allowing it to grow faster and stay on the head longer.

There is an increase in male hormones called androgens when estrogen and progesterone levels drop.

Androgens are responsible for shrinking hair follicles which can result in a slowing of hair growth and increased hair loss. For some, these hormones can cause more hair growth on the face as well.

So, if you want to increase your odds of great hair during menopause, and lessen the effects of perimenopause, menopause, and hair loss, it’s worth finding out the worst things to put in your hair, which make perimenopause hair loss worse!

So, though you may not be able to alter your hormones as your body does its thing, you can make some easy changes that will not add to the perimenopause hair loss.

Perimenopause Hair Loss: The Worst Things to Put in Your Hair

Most women with fine, thinning hair want to add “body” and stiffness to their hair so it seems thicker, so they use some sort of volumizing gel, mousse, glaze, or spray.

Unfortunately, they contain ingredients that are the worse for your hair, plastics. Plastics, like Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone a.k.a PVP, Polyvinyl, polydimethylsiloxane, Octylacrylaminde/Acrylates/Butylaminoethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, PEG, Cyclohexamine, Cyclohexylamine, Polyquaternium-69 Acrylates/Steareth-20 Methacrylicacid, Methacrylate, Methyl Methacrylate, Crosspolymer, Aminomethyl Propanol, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, and Talc.

The more you use these products to add “body” to your hair, the more thinning that can occur.

Why?

Because these ingredients smother your hair follicles, which is what the big manufacturers want.

Why?

Because you will have even thinner hair and need a better, stiffer product to add “body” to your hair, and they will be able to sell you more inferior products in the future.

Another ingredient to avoid is silicone.

You commonly find silicone in sealants (yes that caulk that turns black in the shower), adhesives, lubricants, medicine, cooking utensils, and thermal and electrical insulation.
Sadly, it is also found in personal care products because it makes a great spreading agent and glossing agent for really cheap.

Silicone is made from sand, therefore, it is marketed as natural and organic. Over the years, chemists have figured out how to make the molecules smaller and smaller, until they are so small that they lodge into your hair follicles, smothering them.

To name a few versions of silicone: Dimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Amodimethicone, Dimethicone Copolyol, Cyclomethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, and the list goes on. Silicone and its derivatives, like a liquid glass or plasticized oil covering seal the scalp and stop the ability to absorb nourishment transdermally.

Silicone derivatives are cheap fillers that made it under the radar as being safe. So what it it makes your hair shine.

After hair loss, your main concern is NOT shine.

Your main concern is keeping your hair and increasing hair growth, right?

Conclusion: Perimenopause Hair Loss, The Worst Things You Can Put in Your Hair

I discovered your product by researching hair products for salt-&-pepper very dry hair. After reading the rave reviews, I concluded they must be fabricated because they were so glowing. But, being desperate to find an effective product, I took a chance and ordered the travel size of the Illustrious 1 shampoo and Romance 2 conditioner. After only a couple of uses, my hair was transformed from it’s dull, dry, straw-like texture to it’s former bounce and shine. Truly amazing. I loved it so much I ordered the full sizes and added the SpotLite Shine. LOVED those so much, my next order was for the professional sizes plus the Virginity leave-in conditioner. At the risk of sounding like those other reviews that I thought were fake, I absolutely LOVE these products. Please consider this a thank you note for rescuing my hair.
